Puppy Classes
Riverbank puppy classes for puppies from 8 to 18 weeks
Class co-ordinator is Ann-Marie Millmore
Ann-Marie Millmore runs the puppy classes and has studied Advanced Pet Behaviour Therapy, and puppy class management courses, so you’re in good hands!!
Aim
- To help owners and their families to build a happy and successful relationship with their puppies. This will enable the puppies to grow into well-adjusted, adult dogs whose behaviour is socially acceptable in both the dog and human world.
Content
- Socialisation, Training, Owner Education
- The course is unique and comprehensive and will include general advice on puppy care and handling, early training and dog behaviour. It should enable clients to become intuitive owners and provide their dog with an appropriate lifestyle.
- BUT it does require commitment and regular attendance
How to attend with your puppy
- Each class usually has only 6 puppies, with up to 3 family members for each puppy, so places are limited. Children under the age of ten will not, generally, be permitted to attend for organisational and safety reasons.
- Puppies should be no more than 12 weeks old at the start of classes to complete the course before they are 18 weeks BUT to do this they should be enrolled as soon as possible after reaching 8 weeks old, as they are eligible to begin the class immediately after their first vaccination.
When and Where
- Classes are held once a week at our Newport hospital, on a Thursday evening between 5.30p.m and 7.00p.m for 6 weeks.
- You will be requested to attend a pre-course consultation, on a Monday, which your puppy does not need to attend and is an informative session for you lasting 30- 45 minutes.
- If you feel you cannot attend at these times on a regular basis, then it is better not to apply as affective socialisation requires a full class of puppies. If you need to know more please call for details.
Application for Puppy Classes
- If you are interested in applying for a place in our next class, you may request an application form by post or simply drop into one of our branches and pick one up. Once you have completed it you will be informed by post, if your application has been successful.
- There is often a large demand, so please don’t be too disappointed if your puppy does not get a place and feel free to contact us for puppy advice.
Good Luck Puppies!
