Pet Doctors Final Year Representative – Role Description
The primary role of the year rep is to work with Pet Doctors to promote an increased knowledge and understanding of Pet Doctors as an attractive employer for both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses amongst the students at the university veterinary school. Suitable candidates will have an outgoing personality and will be prepared to organise a presentation event for the company annually. The role will last for three terms starting in the last term of the academic year before qualification.
Each term Pet Doctors will aim to contact the students in the final and penultimate years of the veterinary surgery course (and the final year cohort of the veterinary nurse course if one exists at the specific university). This contact will be in the form of:
- Email communication regarding opportunities at Pet Doctors, the development of the company or its leadership as an employer of veterinary staff.
- Hardcopy flyers, leaflets or brochures with the same form of information – this to be placed in the individual pigeon-holes of students.
- Posters displayed in the veterinary school
- An annual presentation and drinks reception.
- It will be the year rep’s job to distribute this material, put up and maintain the posters and to organise the annual reception.
- It will also be the year rep’s job to help identify suitable candidates to succeed them in the final term of the academic year.
For this work Pet Doctors will pay £400pa. This payment will be split into three termly payments of £133.33.
There is a final discretionary payment made for a top class job and successful completion of all the tasks listed above which is made upon appointment of a successor in the role.
