Worms Line Up for Veterinary Judges!

Jul 4, 2008

Hawthorn Class Year 2 & 3 at Parklands Primary School, Chichester have been busy over the last month since staff from Pet Doctors Veterinary Clinics Chichester invited the children to enter their competition to "make a worm"!

During October, Pet Doctors supported the Big Wiggly campaign.  The purpose of this campaign was to educate pet owners on the importance of regular worming and flea treatment for their pets and on the dangers of Toxocara which can be passed from pets to children.   The campaign was fronted, and supported by, Kim & Aggi from "How Clean is your House".

On Thursday, Shani White, veterinary nurse, who came up with the competition idea, and Tiekie van Tonder, veterinary surgeon, both from Pet Doctors, Chichester went along to the school to judge the entries and present the prizes to the winners.  "The children had worked very hard.  We had a variety of worms to judge from, made out of all sorts of different materials," said Shani.  "It was very hard to pick a first and second prize winner!"

Prize winners were presented with goodie bags containing cuddly toys, bathtime toiletries and a book.

As a consolation prize, all the children received a T-shirt and some wiggly worm sweets and the class was given a Wormery.
