Louise hails from the West of Ireland and graduated as a vet from University College, Dublin in 2007. She originally studied to be a marine biologist at NUI, Galway. Shortly after graduation from UCD she was fortunate to have the opportunity to work as an aquaculture vet. This was a very rewarding and challenging job, combining skills learned from both of her university courses. It involved fieldwork in aquaria, on fish farms and hatcheries, and research on aspects of disease in farmed fish.
After a couple of years Louise missed working with fluffy furries and travelled to the UK where she has since worked both in mixed practice and small animal practice. In 2012, Louise completed a 12 month internship at Wey Referrals (now Lumbry Park Referrals). Here she assisted with medicine, surgery, cardiology, neurology and dermatology cases. She has also worked for the Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) – a charity which she holds in very high regard.
Louise likes all aspects of medicine and surgery but has a special interest in veterinary dermatology. She has enjoyed working at the Pet Doctors Botley surgery since September 2016.
